Mastiff Association Breed Open Show
held on Sunday 23rd
September 2007
at Baginton Village
Hall & Grounds, Coventry
I would like to thank the Committee of the
Mastiff Association for the privilege of judging this event. Also to my very
capable ring stewards and show manager who kept the event moving smoothly. And
on a personal note, to all the committee and helpers behind the scenes who I know worked so hard to make it an
enjoyable day for us all. Most of all,
to the exhibitors for not only entering but for their sportsmanlike behaviour
which, all in all, made for a most memorable and enjoyable experience.
I was impressed at the overall quality both in
type and soundness of the Mastiffs present.
In the twenty years since I became involved in this breed, it is
encouraging to see improvements in both of these areas. I was looking for both
and was delighted to find what I was looking for, not only in my principle
winners but in most exhibits generally.
Some faults apparent were short tails, too much cheek, and some were
carrying too much weight that ultimately spoils the overall balance of the dog
and detracts from the overall picture. Temperaments were on the whole very
good.
1st
White’s JENGREN BABYCHAM

Large brindle boy, just short of ten years of age. Typical head, with good bite. Massive bone, with lovely angulation fore and aft. Large well dropped down chest with ample width. Deep rib cage and moved well. Very impressive for his age, and a credit to his owner.
Class 2 Minor Puppy Dog. [2, 1 Abs].

Eight and a half month old fawn. He is going through that arkward gangly

turn out at present, but this should improve with maturity. Needs to settle.
Movement okay.

angulation. Chest deep with good width.

move around the ring with ease. One to
watch. Best junior.
