MASTIFFS at DISCOVER DOGS

  CRUFTS 2007

The Mastiff Association was pleased to be in charge of the administration of the MASTIFF stand at Discover Dogs again this year and Colin Hill is to be congratulated for arranging the superb decoration and display of this ‘double booth’ area for the four days of Crufts Dog Show held at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, 8-11th March 2007.

Kevin Webb was co-ordinator of the event and did an excellent job in ensuring that there was a Mastiff presence throughout the four days;  and we also thank the volunteers and their Mastiffs who gave their time to meet and greet so many Crufts visitors who were showing an interest in our breed.

On Friday 9th (the Working Group day), the BBC visited Discover Dogs and briefly featured the Mastiff stand with Jessica Holm presenting.  Although the snippet did not go out on mainstream BBC2 Crufts coverage, it was included in their podcast which can still be seen on, and downloaded from the BBC website.

Saturday 10th was particularly busy;  “heaving” was a good description, almost “gridlock” at times; but everyone stayed calm and focussed.

Pictured below are Ebony, baby Angus, and big Alvin who were ‘on duty’ on the Sunday afternoon – giving a good demonstation of being ‘bombproof’ – and waiting to meet their many admirers.

They thought that it was so much better to be outside the pen to get closer to the visitors.  It is much easier to slobber on people from the outside ???

The officers and committee of the M.A. offer their sincere thanks to everyone involved in making this year’s Discover (Mastiffs) Dogs experience such a great success.
